I’m sure you have date nights – then – why not have Play Dates with friends. I have not seen a rule that says that you can’t have play dates – have you? Just so that you know, It’s inspiration day today. All you need to today is go out and forget this thing called being grown up. I’m giving you absolute permission to have some major fun. I’m sure there must be a game arcade somewhere in your city / town. All you need to do is call a few friends, make a date, set the time, name the place and see them there. I’m even sharing a check list to print out. You see – Eazy Peazy – no worries.
It’s in the Music – Your #Creativecue today is all about how music makes you feel and how you relate to music. Music can set your mood. Music can be full of happiness, sadness, heaviness, there is music for each one of us. It’s for us to write our own soundtrack.
One of the things you can do to make music part of your life are playlists, get yourself an Aux cable if your car can accommodate said cable. iTunes have great music you can purchase and download, even Amazon.com. Create those playlists and get your phone all music infused. All you have to do is plug in. My daughter and me got the playlist all sorted for the morning, got it counted down, four songs from home to school, we always end with a happy song.
Another #Creativecue is to go listen to music, visit your local information centre, they should know who will be playing in town. Be open to new musical genres, you might just be surprised how much you like it. Keep yourself open to new possibilities.
On a side note I just want to mention appreciating music has nothing to do with musical ability. My extended family is an extremely musical family – everyone can play more than one instrument – except me. I can’t keep two notes together. I once was asked to have a sing a long with a piano. I got started on the one note and I got kindly asked to wait a moment and try again in order for said person to get the right note. This lasted about three notes in. After the third try I was kindly told that they can’t find the note that would make me sound good. This totally cracked me up.
This says it all I have no notes in me Yet I love to sing, love music, even not finding the notes has not made me stop singing in the car, shower, where ever I am. Sometimes I feel sorry for the people around me – then again just for a moment and carry on. Singing makes me happy. That’s what I want to leave with you today. Find your own music, you don’t have to be all musical – you are allowed to be tone deaf like me and I’m giving you all the permission in the world to sing your heart out.
I’m not of the belief that you have to listed to classical music to find your inner muse, I’m a believer that when you find that music that speaks to you creatively – that’s it. That’s the trigger moment that would get you moving.
Today – listen to music with your soul – sing out loud and be.
How to Get Intentional in your life is to start a specific idea and see that idea fulfilled through to the end. The only way we can get our ideas fulfilled is to actually do it. Unfortunately, there is no miracle cure for working through the process of our intention but hard work.
What does intention mean to us creatives?
Why be intentional in your life?
The world out there is a world filled with amazing things, sights, sounds, smells that bombard our senses. It is very easy to get lost in all this noise. At this point our brains have this information overload and it becomes very difficult to define anything and everything that surrounds us. We then tend to focus on the nothingness and live is this bubble of just being. It’s when you drive the same road every day, the road becomes a road with the same lanes, just cars, nothing out of the ordinary. It’s taking this sameness and bringing it a step forward and becoming intentional in the sameness. It’s when you take the same road and break it up into small little pieces and become more intentional in what you see and hear.
When we become intentional in our life we see more, hear more, feel more, taste more, we live more and are open to the possibilities surrounding us.
Why? Now we can absorb what’s happening in and around us, take that and transpose it into our creativeness.
A quick lesson in becoming intentional?
Today, before you set forth on your journey decide on what you want to see, is it a color, a specific item, define it in your mind. Look for what you wanted to see, take snapshots of your intention, write it down or make a mental note.
Remember it’s about being intentional, you’re giving your brain something to do out of the ordinary. It is not just taking the same colours, scene in every day that it does. It’s breaking the image up into small nuggets of what you want to see.
You can take the same route and do the same thing just with another colour, you will see something totally different. This is about opening up your creative eye to your surroundings and seeing the world around you in a total different way.
The power of intention is to start a specific idea and to see that idea fulfilled through to the end.
Intention for me has to do with starting with the end in mind, even if it is not a final product / project, it can just be a glimpse of what “it” could be, whatever it is. The golden rule of intention is to start, know what you’re looking for and work through the process of getting there.
I got so inspired listening to Chris Staley in how he talks about making mistakes. What I got out of his talk is that we tend to over think things sometimes. We all make mistakes, and sometimes it is those mistakes that defines us in who we are. It is those mistakes that stand out and make us uniquely different to other people. We are way to critical with ourselves and in some instances should just give ourselves some scope to be different, make those mistakes, learn from them and move on. What might be mistakes out of our point of view, might not be from another perspective.
My inspiration for you today is that it’s OK to make mistakes : the following came forth out of mistakes : –
Arniston or Waenhuiskrans is a small coastal town along the Cape South Coast. Arniston’s name comes from an 1815 shipwreck. It’s one of those towns that has two names so if someone talks about Waenhuiskrans just note it’s the same place as Arniston. Got confused myself for a moment. There’s a beautiful cave to explore, and can be only accessed at low tide. It’s still somewhat a fishing village and has these great hotels close to the beach.
We did these long walks on the beach, told the kids well be back in 30 minutes, when we realised the time just soaking in the beauty it was three hours later.
What these walks do to your soul is indescribable, sometimes one’s mind can’t comprehend that there is a Creator that made all this beauty to look at and breathe in. This was such a good time for a bit of dreaming and reflection. I made these mental lists and now I just have to fulfill them.
This is me sharing some of that Coastal Beauty – for you to get refreshed and get dreaming.
